Castelo de Guimarães -Guimarães, Portugal

Castelo de Guimarães was built under the orders of Mumadona Dias in the 10th century to defend the monastery from attacks by Moors and Norsemen.

The castle, which to me looked more like a fort, was partly close because of some renovations.

Not all the areas where open and a tour guide was needed.  They were offering a virtual tour as well, which I took, it showed the reenactment of a battle against the Moors.  It was interesting.
