Villa Vizcaya – Miami

Villa Vizcaya, is the former villa and estate of businessman James Deering, of the Deering McCormick-International Harvester fortune.

The early 20th century Vizcaya estate also includes: extensive Italian Renaissance gardens; native woodland landscape; and a historic village outbuildings compound. The landscape and architecture were influenced by Veneto and Tuscan Italian Renaissance models and designed in the Mediterranean Revival architecture style, with Baroque elements. Paul Chalfin was the design director.

Cathedral of Learning – Pittsburgh

Cathedral of Learning  designed by the architect Charles Klauder is listed in the National Register of Historic Places is the centerpiece of the University of Pittsburgh’s main campus. Standing at 535 feet (163 m), the 42-story Late Gothic Revival Cathedral is the tallest educational building in the Western hemisphere and the second tallest university building (fourth tallest educationally-purposed building) in the world. It is also the second tallest gothic-styled building in the world.

Phipps Conservatory – Pittsburgh

Phipps is one of the “greenest” facilities in the world. Its greenhouse production facility has received Platinum certification, the first and only greenhouse to be so certified. Its purpose is to educate and entertain the people of Pittsburgh with formal gardens (Roman, English, etc.) and various species of exotic plants (palm trees, succulents, bonsai, orchids, etc.)
