Forest of the Giant Ferns – Parque Amboro

The Amboro NAtional Park is located in the elbow of the Andes, in Bolivia.

It is geologically formed by sandstone  rock. It is easily eroded by the high rainfall regime. However the vegetacion protects this erosion from happening.

The heat and the high humidity are constant in this national park.

Ferns  grow only 1 cm. per year and in Amboro they reach about 10 meters.

If the fern that I am hugging is 5mts long it means it has about 500 years old.  While looking at the the photographs I thought about the Colombian project “Orquideorama”. I wonder if the architects ever walked under this natural umbrellas.

I feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to walk in true nature, not in the disney version of it.

At one point I was so high into the mountain  that the clouds covered everything, it was funny, it gut cool but the humidity was tremendous.

I love must bugs when they are in nature, far away from trash cans.
