Favrile glass is a type of iridescent art glass, which was patent in 1896 by Luis Comfort Tiffany.
This new method of glassmaking works by treating molten glass with metallic oxides that are absorbed into the glass and creates a luxurious iridescent surface effect.
The difference between other iridescent glasses is that the color is not applied on the surface but its part of the glass.
