Ranakpur Jain Temple – Udaipur, India

This temple is dedicated to Tirthankara Rishabhanatha. The temple honors Adinath, the first Tirthankar of the present half-cycle (avasarpiṇī) according to Jain cosmology.

This temple is famous for its intricate carvings and unique architecture,This temple is built in Māru-Gurjara architecture, in this style the interiors are lavishly decorated, with elaborate carving on most surfaces.

A distinctive feature is “flying” arch-like elements between pillars, touching the horizontal beam above in the centre, and elaborately carved.

The temple was constructed in white marble, spreading over 48,000 square feet, with 1444 marble pillars (no two pillars are the same), twenty-nine halls, eighty domes and 426 columns.

Temple has a total of 84 underground chambers built to protect the Jain idols from the Mughals.

Parshvanatha made out of a single marble slab. The idol has 1008 snake heads and numerous tails. 
Akichaka, a bearded man with five bodies representing the five elements.
Kalpavriksha, is a wish-fulfilling divine tree in Hindu mythology, Jainism and Buddhism.

Inside the temple there are elephants purifying  Parshvanatha.
