Tulum – Mexico

Tulum is the site of a pre-columbian Mayan city serving as a major port for Coba. The ruins are situated on 12-meter (39 ft) tall cliffs, along the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.

-La Casa del Cenote- The building was set on top of the hole that makes the cenote. The Maya civilization of the Yucatan faced cerious problems with fresh water since there is almost sources in the surface.

-Templo de KuKulkan- Dedicated to the Wind God
-Palacio del Gran Senor- It consists of several large rooms with flat roofs supported by columns with crossed wooden beams. This is one of the buildings where the most important inhabitants of Tulum Lived.
-El Castillo- This is the most imposing building in Tulum. The Facade was brightly painted and decorated with sculptures, in the corners has a large stucco mask that still remains. at the ground level there are two small temples with inner altars. In the upper Temple was were the major religious ceremonies were held.
