Santiago- During the beginning of the XIX, it was intended to create an architecture that would agree with the republican values of the country, architects from Europe (especially France) were brought to design a city that would agree with the era.

In 1848 Claude Francois Brunet de Baines was hired as the government architect. He was commissioned to design important state buildings, such as the National Congress and the Municipal Theater. In addition, he was assigned the foundation of the first school of architecture of the country, dependent of the University of Chile, where the first architects were formed.

Unfortunately many of this buildings are being forgotten. Their maintenance is very expensive, it is a shame not to be able to keep these structures. the amount if detail, the workmanship in every detail is so beautiful, to walk around the downtown Santiago and come across to these structures is a privilege.
