The Baptistery of Florence or the\u00a0Baptistery of Saint John\u00a0octagonal\u00a0baptistery,\u00a0constructed between 1059 and 1128 in the Florentine\u00a0Romanesque\u00a0style making it one of the oldest building in the city.<\/p>\n

It has eight equal sides\u00a0 originally constructed in sandstone, it presents\u00a0 geometrically patterned colored\u00a0marble, white\u00a0Carrara\u00a0marble with green Prato marble inlay.<\/p>\n

Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The\u00a0Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore (Cathedral of\u00a0Saint Mary of the Flower) began its construction in 1296 in the\u00a0Gothic\u00a0style with the design of\u00a0Arnolfo di Cambio, later in 1436 under\u00a0 the dome was engineered and constructed under Filippo Brunelleschi.<\/p>\n

The basilica is one of Italy’s largest churches, and until development of new structural materials in the modern era, the dome was the largest in the world. It remains the largest brick dome ever constructed.<\/p>\n

Ponte Vecchio\u00a0\u00a0was the only bridge across the Arno in Florence until 1218.\u00a0\u00a0The current bridge was rebuilt after a flood in\u00a01345<\/strong>. During World War II it was the only bridge across the Arno that the fleeing Germans did not destroy.<\/p>\n
