A\u00eft Benhaddou i<\/b>s a historic ksar, a fortified, village along the former caravan route between the Sahara\u00a0and\u00a0Marrakesh\u00a0in\u00a0Morocco.<\/p>\n

It\u00a0 has\u00a0been a\u00a0UNESCO\u00a0World Heritage Site since 1987\u00a0 and it is considered a great example of Moroccan earthen clay architecture.<\/p>\n

The ksar’s structures are made entirely out of rammed earth,\u00a0adobe, clay bricks, and wood. the structures are highly practical and cost-effective material but required constant maintenance.<\/p>\n

The ksar has been significantly restored in modern times, thanks in part to its use as a Hollywood filming location and to its inscription on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1987.<\/p>\n

The ksar is a great place to visit, if you do not have knee problems or have issues walking in irregular terrain.<\/p>\n
