\/><\/p>\n<p>The State Capitol was design in the\u00a0\u00a0Eastlake Style\u00a0or\u00a0Eastlake architecture which\u00a0is part of the\u00a0Queen Anne style\u00a0of\u00a0Victorian architecture.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The building&#8217;s ornately decorated facades display statuary and include several statues, medallions and carved\u00a0tympana\u00a0over the \/><\/p>\n<p>At the exterior base of the dome are 12 statues in six pairs representing Agriculture, Commerce, Education\/Law, Force\/War, Science\/Justice, and Music.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The building&#8217;s dome originally had a large statue on top of it, named\u00a0<i>The Genius of Connecticut<\/i>, which was taken down in 1938 after being damaged in the\u00a0great hurricane of that year<\/p>\n<p>The interior floors used white marble and red\u00a0slate\u00a0from Connecticut, and some of the colored marble is from Italy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img
