The Jagdish Temple was built in 1651 by the Maharaja Jagat Singh, the Temple is dedicated to\u00a0\u00a0Lord Laxmi Narayan, who is one of the representations of Lord Vishnu(the preserver of the universe), who has a shrine in it.<\/p>\n

The shikhar (or spire) of the temple is covered with intricate sculptures of dancers, horseman, elephants and musicians, it reaches a height of 79 feet.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Below the main shrine which houses the four-armed image of Lord Vishnu, carved out of a single black stone.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Next to the main shrine there are smaller ones for Lord Ganesha, Sun Lord, Goddess Shakti, and Lord Shiva.<\/p>\n

The first and the second storey of the temple possess 50 pillars each.\u00a0temple was built keeping in the mind the Hindu architectural science of ‘Vastushstra’ (Vaastu is the science of\u00a0directions\u00a0that combines all the\u00a0five elements\u00a0of nature and balance them with the man and the material, including\u00a0 architecture, science, art, astronomy and astrology)<\/p>\n

The temple is constructed in carved stone and marble stairs.<\/p>\n
