Lima is the capital of Peru and as such is full of activities.<\/p>\n

Downtown is packed with interesting buildings, a lot of neoclasic structures.<\/p>\n

Casa de Pizarro<\/strong><\/p>\n

Below is the Government Palace also known as the House of Pizarro, is the seat of the executive branch of the Peruvian Government, and the official residence of the President of Peru.<\/p>\n

The current Government Palace building dates largely from the 1920s. It is representative of the\u00a0Neo-Plateresque\u00a0style characteristic of Lima from the 1920s to the 1940s. The\u00a0coat of arms\u00a0of Pizarro is displayed on the main\u00a0portico\u00a0of the building, at Palacio Street, which was designed and built by French architect Claude Antoine Sahut Laurent (1883\u20131932).<\/p>\n

Polish architect\u00a0Ricardo de Jaxa Malachowski\u00a0designed the building’s facade in 1938. Inspired by the\u00a0Neo-Baroque\u00a0style, it looks onto the main square, the\u00a0Plaza Mayor, or Plaza de Armas, of Lima.<\/p>\n

Basilica y Convento de San Francisco<\/strong><\/p>\n

The church is noted for its\u00a0architecture, a high example of Spanish\u00a0Baroque. Its granite carved portal would later influence those on other churches, including the\u00a0Church of Merced. The vaults of the central and two side\u00a0naves\u00a0are painted in\u00a0mudejar\u00a0style: a mix of Moorish and Spanish designs.<\/p>\n

The church, designed in the\u00a0Baroque style known as\u00a0Churrigueresque,\u00a0\u00a0other images.<\/p>\n

The style churrigueresque refers to a\u00a0Spanish Baroque\u00a0style of elaborate sculptural\u00a0architectural ornament which emerged as a manner of\u00a0stucco\u00a0decoration in\u00a0Spain\u00a0in the late 17th century and was used up to about 1750, marked by extreme, expressive and florid decorative detailing, normally found above the entrance on the main facade of a building.<\/p>\n
