Mount Nebo<\/strong> is a holy \u00a0mountain in Jordan which stands over 2,000 feet high. It is believed that from this place Moses gazed upon the Holy Land before his death.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

From this point you can see, The dead sea, Jerusalem (on a clear day) and Bethlehem.<\/p>\n

In the 4th century, Egyptian monks erected a small monastery in memory of Moses, now called Memorial Church of Moses. In the 5th century, the Memorial Church was turned into a basilica which still stand today.<\/p>\n

The interior shows old mosaic, and a small altar.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

As the photos show, there were not many people around.<\/p>\n

I think that it was the proximity of this place to Israel and the fear of a country at war.<\/p>\n

During my visit I did not see a larger display of armed forces in the country, there were no protest, I felt that most people did not want to talk about it, especially with a foreign person.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Mount Nebo is a great historical place to visit, I am not a religious person but is always amazing to see what people built for their faith.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The sculpture represents the Biblical Brazen Serpent from which Moses uses to\u00a0 protect the Israelites.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Dead sea<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Jordan’s dead sea swallowed and spit me out.<\/p>\n

A storm was coming, and I decided to get in the water…. it was extremely windy.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Waves were hitting me…. buoyancy, salt in my mouth and eyes made it really hard for regain composure. The waves kept pushing me in and out, dragging me on top of the salty rocks. A lifeguard had pull me out, it was embarrassing.<\/p>\n

I almost drowned in one of the few places in the world where no one can drown. that was my experience on Jordan’s dead sea.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Besides my traumatic experience, I do have to say that this is a place for older people, there is a very slow and “this will help my knee joints”vibe.<\/p>\n

But is one of those places that you have to visit at least once in your life.<\/p>\n

The positive thing is that I have been in “ojos del salar, Laguna Cejar and Tebinquinche”in Chile,which has the same buoyancy than the dead sea and I had a normal\/fun experience.<\/p>\n
